The URI Research Foundation partners with the University of Rhode Island’s Division of Research & Economic Development to move ideas from the lab into the marketplace. It creates economic development and job creation for Rhode Island through commercialization of inventions, development of sponsored research and collaborative partnerships with government agencies and industry partners.
Generating more than $80 Million in research awards in 2013, the URI Division of Research & Economic Development supports the administration, compliance, and development of URI’s research projects. As a land grant institution, URI’s faculty and students work with researchers and policymakers around the world to solve multidisciplinary, global challenges that span the full range of scholarly disciplines. These projects advance education, improve the quality of life, promote new technologies, and ensure sustainability as they impact Rhode Island, our country and the world.
